Veneers consist of thin shells of porcelain or composite resin that are permanently bonded onto the front surfaces of your teeth. They can help improve the aesthetics of your smile and are suitable in a variety of situations. All of our veneers are carefully designed to complement your facial features, gender and your age. Veneers can be a standalone treatment, may be used in conjunction with teeth whitening, or can form part of a more comprehensive smile makeover.
How Could Veneers Help Me?
You might wish to consider veneers to cover up teeth that are:
- Worn or chipped
- Have unsightly gaps in between them
- Heavily stained and cannot be whitened
- Too small or oddly shaped
- Slightly out of alignment
Here at Central Maitland Dentistry, your new veneers can be made from composite resin or from porcelain. Composite veneers are very cost-effective, but porcelain veneers are more durable. Both can provide excellent results.
What is the Procedure for Having Composite Veneers?
Often, very little tooth preparation is required for composite resin veneers and treatment can be completed during just one visit. The resin is applied to the front surfaces of your teeth in small increments before being hardened, shaped and polished to provide a natural looking appearance. Composite resin comes in many different shades and translucencies and our dentist may use a combination of different colours to get a perfect match with your natural teeth.
What is the Procedure for Having Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers require at least two visits. During your first appointment your teeth will be carefully prepared under local anaesthetic before a detailed impression is taken. Your veneers will be custom-made in our on-site laboratory before being fitted and bonded onto your teeth at your next appointment.
